Changes to prescriptions following Newcastle Gateshead CCG merger
Further to communications sent to practices after the CCG merger in April, all prescriptions should now be printing with Newcastle Gateshead CCG details. Practices that haven’t yet done so are reminded of the need to re-order any pre-printed personalized prescription forms, containing details of the former Newcastle North and East, Newcastle West, and Gateshead CCGs.
NHS England will not be recalling pre-printed prescriptions containing details of the former CCGs. This is a responsibility of the practice.
Personalised prescription forms which are no longer in use should be securely destroyed. The destruction should be recorded and witnessed by another member of staff and ideally a record should be kept of serial numbers. An aide memoire for practice managers on the security of prescription forms is available on the NHS BSA website.
