Updated PGD: Combined Diphtheria, Tetanus, Acellular Pertussis and Inactivated Polio plus HIB Vaccine (DTaP/IPV/Hib – PEDIACEL and Infanrix IPV + Hib)

Combined diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis and inactivated polio and Hib vaccine (DTaP/ IPV/ Hib - Pediacel and Infanrix IPV + Hib) (1312 downloads)

The Patient Group Direction (PGD) for Combined Diphtheria, Tetanus, Acellular Pertussis and Inactivated Polio plus HIB Vaccine (DTaP/IPV/Hib – PEDIACEL and Infanrix IPV + Hib) has been updated and is available to download.

The new PGD has been jointly developed and authorised by North of England Commissioning Support (NECS) and NHS England (Cumbria and North East) for use by practices and NHS services within the Durham, Darlington, Tees, Cumbria, Northumberland and Tyne & Wear areas. This new PGD reflects the most up to date recommendations and have been produced to support the national immunisation programme and replaces all previous versions.

It is advisable to take a master copy of the blank PGD to keep on file should you need it for a newly appointed nurse. I would be grateful if you could ensure that this PGD is read, agreed and signed by all nurses it applies to.

For each practice nurse PGDs should be authorised by the clinical lead on behalf of the practice. Once completed, a copy of the management & monitoring form should be given to each nurse, with the original practice copy being kept on file by the practice (in your Clinical Governance Handbook). Replaced PGDs should be filed and kept as a record of practice.

All current PGDs can be found at https://medicines.necsu.nhs.uk/resources/patient-group-directions/
