PrescQIPP is programme that supports quality, optimised prescribing for patients. They produce evidence-based resources and tools for primary care commissioners, and provide a platform to share innovation across the NHS. Most of the materials are publicly available, however a range of data and intelligence tools, webinars and events are provided for subscribers. PrescQIPP also aim to engage with a broad range of stakeholders including patients and carers, the pharmaceutical industry and voluntary sector organisations.

PrescQIPP is an NHS funded not for profit organisation and works cooperatively with the many CCGs and CSUs who subscribe. Their work is driven at all levels by representatives from CCGs and CSUs, and has majority input around all levels of the decision making process, including the strategic oversight group. PrescQIPP is independent, unbiased and works to support all of the prescribing themes that affect medicines and prescribing, including:

  • Medicines Optimisation
  • Projects to deliver QIPP
  • Polypharmacy, deprescribing and long-term conditions
  • Financial mechanisms such as the PPRS, Cat M and rebates in primary care
  • Transfer of Care to community pharmacy
  • Shared decision making with the patient

For an introduction to the wealth of information available an introductory video is available to view on the PresQIPP website.
