Valproate – NICE guidance summary

NICE have published a summary of guidance and safety advice on use of valproate in children, young people and adults – including updated recommendations on prescribing for women or girls with childbearing potential:

• Do not prescribe valproate for any condition, unless there is no other effective or tolerated treatment available, and only if the terms of the pregnancy prevention programme are met.
