About Us

NHS North of England Care Systems Support (NECS) works across the UK to support health and social care customers in meeting strategic and operational challenges, to improve outcomes and increase efficiency.  We are one of four commissioning support units (CSUs) that provide support services in the NHS.

Employing over 1400 experienced and skilled people, NECS has office bases across the UK and staff working the length and breadth of the country.  Current customers include local authorities, a range of healthcare providers in the NHS that make up STPs including emerging Integrated Care Systems (ICS), third and private sector organisations.

We deliver a broad range of medicines optimisation services spanning primary care, integrated care systems, local authorities, care homes and national programmes of work in collaboration with NHS bodies and expertise from across NECS including business intelligence, communications and marketing, and other departments.

Because we’re part of the NHS, we have keen understanding of the issues faced by the NHS. In practice that means our solutions benefit from a system wide understanding as well as an extensive regional knowledge. Best of all, we always put the needs of the patient and the public first.  We’re focused on making a difference rather than making a profit.
